What is WEBCON ?

Recent net-based services realized the public easy access to satellite/aerial images and other geographic information of any place around the world at any time. Now our interest is gwhat comes next?h
In order to promote students and young scientists activities, AARS (Asian Association on Remote Sensing) has organized a web contest WEBCON1  at ACRS2011 in Taipei. Following the success of WEBCON1, WEBCON2 was organized at ACRS2012 in Pattaya, Thailand and WEBCON3 was orngaized at ACRS2013  in Bali, Indonesia. This year, WEBCON4 is planned to be organized at ACRS2014 in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar. 
The main objective of the contest is to promote the development of web materials which may give us a future vision of the web related to geo-information sciences.
Any students and young scientists who are younger than 35 and have registered to the Asian Conference on Remote Sensing(ACRS) can nominate their web materials to WEBCON.

 Contest Rules

  • Students and young scientists who are less than 35 and have registered to ACRS can submit their proposals and preliminary works to the Contest. The Contest is open to individuals or teams composed up to 3 people.

  • After the initial evaluation of submitted proposals, applicants will be invited to the contest for competition. The contestants are required to bring their PCs or notebooks to demonstrate their web materials, but wireless internet connection will be provided by the organizers

Judging

  • Winners will be selected by a panel of members from AARS Council, ACRS Organizing Committee. The judges will evaluate the works according to the following criteria:

  • General utility and importance of output.

  • Scalability and elegance of design.

  • Clarity, efficiency and portability of implementation.

  • Originality

  • Prizes Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards with certificates of commendation will be awarded to the winners.  

Important Dates

  • Deadline for registration and submitting proposals and works through ACRS is September 30 , 2014.
    Your proposal should include the name, affiliation, country, date of birth and E-mail address of every team member and the following items:

    1. Title of the web material.

    2. Design concept and purpose.

    3. Outline of the web material: brief description of system requirement, framework, scheme or functions.

    4. URL: The typical part of the web material should be accessible for evaluation. (If not, you may provide a set of files which can be viewed by the web browsers.)

    5. Other helpful information.

    All documentations should be in Microsoft WORD or Acrobat PDF format.

To participate in WEBCON4, you have to register in the ACRS2014 and make full payment. After that you are eligible to participate in WEBCON4.
