Mt. Unzen Eruption Monitoring from Space


Outline:

After almost 200 years interval, Mt. Unzen located in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, erupted on Nov. 11, 1990. In June 1991, a big pyroclastic flow took place and 43 people were killed by the flow. The Volcano was active until 1994 and over 800 houses were damaged by the serious pyroclastic flows.
